Day by Day
Itinerary
DAY1Arrival in Moshi
Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to your hotel in Moshi. Evening briefing and equipment check with your lead guide.
DAY2Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Drive to Machame Gate and trek through the rainforest to Machame Camp (about 3,000 m).
DAY3Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Climb out of the forest onto the heather and moorland of the Shira Plateau.
DAY4Shira to Lava Tower to Barranco
Climb high to Lava Tower (about 4,600 m) and descend to Barranco Camp: "walk high, sleep low" for acclimatisation.
DAY5Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp
Scramble up the Barranco Wall and continue across valleys to Karanga Camp.
DAY6Karanga to Barafu Camp
A short climb to Barafu base camp. Rest and early dinner before the summit attempt.
DAY7Summit day: Uhuru Peak
Start around midnight and climb to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak for sunrise. Descend to Mweka Camp.
DAY8Descent to Moshi
Walk down through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, collect your certificate and transfer back to Moshi.
