Lake Manyara National Park
Groundwater forest, flamingos and the Rift Valley wall
Northern Circuit
Discover Lake Manyara
Set beneath the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is a compact park of lush groundwater forest, open floodplain and a shallow alkaline lake that often draws flamingos and pelicans.
The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons and blue monkeys in the forest. Its small size makes it ideal for a half-day or full-day visit on the way between Arusha, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti.
Wildlife & sights
- Views from the Rift Valley escarpment
- Walking through the groundwater forest
