Marangu Route

Route Overview
About the Marangu Route
The only route with hut accommodation, following a gradual trail up and down the same path.
Marangu approaches from the south-east with steady gradients and dormitory-style huts at Mandara, Horombo and Kibo. It is shorter and appeals to those who prefer beds to tents, but its quicker ascent gives less time to acclimatise, so we strongly recommend the 6-day version with a rest day at Horombo.
Why choose it
- Huts instead of tents
- Gentle, steady gradients
- Shorter and lower cost
Keep in mind
- Less time to acclimatise
- Same path up and down
- Huts can be crowded
