Created in 2019 from the northern part of the famous Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere is Tanzania's largest national park, a wilderness of rivers, lakes and palm-fringed channels.
The Rufiji River is the heart of the park. Here you can combine classic game drives with boat safaris past hippos, crocodiles and elephants drinking at the water's edge, and guided walks in the bush. Nyerere is one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered African wild dog.
