Frequent Asked Question
The best months for the climb fall in the dry seasons, January to mid-March and June to October, when skies are clearer, trails are in better condition and more climbers reach the summit.
Because of the elevation gain and steep sections, the Machame Route is a moderate to challenging trek. Most healthy people can still reach the summit with proper acclimatization, which this 7-day itinerary provides. Good fitness and the support of expert guides help a great deal as well.
You do not need any previous climbing experience. We do strongly recommend good fitness and a few practice hikes, though, so that you build stamina and feel more at ease at high altitude.
Every day you eat nutritious, freshly cooked meals made to power energetic trekking. Typical menus feature soups, rice, pasta, vegetables, fruit, eggs and snacks. Our cooks can accommodate dietary restrictions given advance notice.
