Your trip to one of Africa's best-known wildlife destinations starts at dawn, when your Ceraa Eyes Safari guide collects you from your Arusha accommmodation. You head west on a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley and the green highlands towards the world-renowned Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Game Drive across the Crater Floor

Next you descend into Ngorongoro Crater, the planet's biggest intact volcanic caldera, often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. More than 25,000 large animals live within this natural amphitheater, which keeps wildlife plentiful throughout the year.

Your 4x4 safari vehicle then rolls across the crater floor. Watch for the Big Five here: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Hyenas, zebras, hippos and wildebeests are also likely sightings, and countless bird species live in the crater too, among them flamingos on Lake Magadi.

Picnic Lunch and Return to Arusha

Around midday you break for a picnic lunch in a pretty spot within the crater, often near a hippo pool, and soak up the surroundings. After lunch the afternoonoon game drive brings more wildlife encounters and great photo chances.

Late in the afternoon you climb back up the crater walls and begin the drive to Arusha, reaching it in the early evening with stories and photographs from one of the most biodiverse safari areas on earth.
