Itinerary
Your Zanzibar retreat starts at Nungwi, on the northern tip of the island. Coming straight from the excitement of the Serengeti, it is an ideal spot to slow down. Settle in and unwind on pristine white beaches, then have a seafood dinner beside the ocean as the island breeze drifts in at dusk.
Begin the day with a fascinating tour of a spice farm in the heart of Zanzibar, the "Spice Island." Spice growing here has a long history, and today you wander through green plantations of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. On the tour you taste fresh spices and hear about how they are used and why they matter.
Back at your resort, lunch is followed by an unhurried afternoon. Spend it by the pool, wander along nearby beaches or simply soak up your lovely surroundings. In the evening, a quiet dinner at the resort lets you enjoy the calm of island life.
The third day is all about the crystal-clear water and white beaches of Nakupenda Island. You sail by boat to this secluded spot, renowned for its powdery pale sand and colourful sea life, and spend your time swimming, snorkelling and soaking up the sunshine. Nakupenda is a tranquil haven, perfect for enjoying the outdoors far from any crowds.
While snorkelling you can swim beside colourful tropical fish and explore the coral reefs. After a day of beach relaxation and underwater fun, you return to your resort for a well-earned, easy evening and a refreshing dinner by the sea.
Day 4 takes you to Mnemba Island, a small and idyllic isle renowned for superb diving and snorkelling. Its surrounding coral reefs make it one of Zanzibar’s finest spots for underwater adventures. Experienced divers and beginners alike are well catered for, and in the crystal-clear water you can swim with sea turtles, bright fish and other marine life.
After a day of exciting exploration, return to Nungwi for a relaxing evening. A delicious dinner awaits as you watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean.
An exciting chance to swim with wild dolphins arrives today. You travel to Kizimkazi on Zanzibar’s southern coast for a dolphin swimming tour, where expert guides lead you to the best dolphin hotspots. Swimming beside these playful animals in their natural habitat is sure to be a highlight of your trip.
Later, you go back to Nungwi Dream by Mantis for a restful afternoon. The remainder of the day is free, so you can lounge on the beach or use the resort’s facilities.
Your final day is devoted to Zanzibar's historic core, with a guided tour of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin by strolling through its winding alleys, then stop at landmarks such as the Spice Market, House of Wonders and the Old Slave Market, soaking up Zanzibar’s deep cultural history.
When the tour is over, you have time for some last-minute shopping or one more meal in this atmospheric town. You then go to Zanzibar International Airport for your flight home, carrying lasting memories of your Serengeti safari and island escape.
