An early morning pickup begins your adventure. The drive to Marangu Gate takes about 4 hours from Arusha and about 1 hour from Moshi, and the gate is the main entry point for this popular route.

When you arrive, you first register and pick up the permits required for the trek. Next you meet your professional mountain guide and start hiking through the lush rainforest, one of the loveliest ecosystems on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Walking through dense forest of tall trees, ferns and unusual plants, keep watching for wildlife, such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and many birds. This part of the Marangu Route is rich in biodiversity, and nature lovers will appreciate the peaceful atmosphere.

After a steady hike, you reach Mandara Hut at last, where you have dinner and sleep in comfortable mountain huts.

Once breakfast is done, you walk up to Maundi Crater, among the finest viewpoints on Mount Kilimanjaro's lower slopes. Wide views over northern Tanzania unfold from the top and, when the sky is clear, Kenya appears too. This stretch of the trek also gives you a taste of higher altitude without going for the summit.

Having explored Maundi Crater, you walk back down through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, completing your 2 days Mount Kilimanjaro climbing experience. At the gate you finish the exit formalities and your trek is formally recognised.

Your driver then takes you back to Arusha or Moshi, and your short Kilimanjaro hike ends with a satisfying taste of Africa’s highest mountain.
