Itinerary
Your safari starts with an early departure from Arusha for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. En route you drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where views of the wide savannah and far-off volcanic highlands are simply stunning.
Upon reaching the Serengeti, you go straight into an exciting afternoon game drive with a professional English-speaking safari guide. The limitless plains are alive with animals; expect lions, elephants, giraffes and cheetahs, and, depending on the season, perhaps the beginning of the Great Wildebeest Migration.
You camp this evening at Seronera Public Campsite, deep within the Serengeti, for a genuine wilderness night beneath African stars. A hearty dinner is served, after which the sounds of the wild lull you to sleep.
Wake early for a superb sunrise game drive in the Serengeti, when you stand the best chance of watching predators in action. Animals are at their busiest at dawn, which makes it the finest time for wildlife viewing. Once you have spent a few hours on the Serengeti plains, you relax over brunch before the journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area starts.
The route crosses lovely savannah scenery with further chances to see animals. By afternoon you reach the Ngorongoro Simba Campsite on the crater rim, which looks out across the biggest intact volcanic caldera in the world. Settle in, have a tasty dinner and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure inside the Ngorongoro Crater.
Following an early breakfast, you travel 600 meters down into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive of half a day. Counted among Africa's richest wildlife destinations, this UNESCO World Heritage Site shelters an astonishing number of animals. Keep watch for the rare black rhino and large herds of wildebeest, zebras and buffaloes, plus elephants, hippos, hyenas and a flourishing population of lions.
The fertile crater floor gives outstanding opportunities to spot the Big Five within a small area, making it among the best places for wildlife photography. Once a rewarding morning and a crater picnic lunch are behind you, you climb out and drive to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon as your memorable 3-day Tanzania safari comes to a close.
