Itinerary
On landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Ceraa Eyes Safari driver is there to welcome you and take you to the luxurious Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha. This lively city lies among superb scenery, making it a fine starting point for your Tanzanian adventure. Once checked in, the rest of the day is yours. You could enjoy the hotel's first-class facilities or wander through the city to absorb the local atmosphere. Dinner is served at the hotel in the evening, followed by a restful night before the exciting days ahead.
Your second day opens with an invigorating hike on Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. The path leads you initially through verdant forest with striking views across the landscape below, and on the way you witness the mountain's rich biodiversity, possibly spotting endemic plants and wildlife. You will not reach the summit, yet the walk offers a taste of Kilimanjaro's majesty and a memory that lingers. When the day of exploring is done, head back to Kibo Palace Hotel for a restful evening and night.
On Day 3, after a hearty breakfast, you travel to Tarangire National Park, known for its iconic baobab trees and big elephant herds. Once there, you take a full game drive through the park's varied habitats, including wide savannas and riverbanks. Zebras, giraffes and predators such as lions and leopards live here too. At sunset you make your way to Mawemawe Manyara Lodge for a relaxed dinner and overnight stay, where you can look back over the day's wildlife encounters.
Day 4 starts with breakfast before you head to Serengeti National Park, where the central region is alive with wildlife and you spend a whole day on safari. Depending on when you travel, you could witness the remarkable Wildebeest Migration Tours in Tanzania and Kenya, as millions of wildebeest and zebras sweep across the plains. Lions, leopards and cheetahs live here too, which gives you a fine chance of seeing these powerful predators in their own habitat. As evening falls, you settle into Kubukubu Serengeti Lodge for a calm night amid the beauty of the Serengeti.
Day 5 starts with a further exciting game drive across the central Serengeti, where the plains teem with life, from huge herds of wildebeest to giraffes. You then travel towards Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On reaching the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you check in at The Retreat Ngorongoro, a luxury lodge perched on the crater rim. Take in the superb view over the crater before turning in for the night, because tomorrow you explore this remarkable ecosystem.
On Day 6 you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The crater is nicknamed the "Garden of Eden" because so much wildlife is packed into it, and you can see the Big Five there: lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes and leopards.
Green forests, soda lakes and grasslands also shelter many other species. You may see hippos in the crater's lakes and cheetahs hunting on the plains. After a day of exploring, you go back to Mawemawe Lodge for the night and think back on the experiences.
Day 7 takes you to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions and big flocks of flamingos. Forest, savannah and lakeshore habitats sit side by side here, supporting baboons, giraffes, elephants and many other species. Begin with a game drive through this varied park and capture some wonderful wildlife moments. You then return to Arusha and fly to Zanzibar, where you check in at Madinat al Bahr Hotel and relax in the island’s tropical atmosphere.
Day 8 brings you to scenic Mnemba Island, a short way off the Zanzibar coast. Pristine beaches and lively coral reefs make it a leading spot for diving and snorkelling, where you can explore clear waters and swim alongside sea turtles, colourful fish and other marine life. Mnemba has dives to suit every level, from experienced divers to complete beginners. After a busy day in the water, you travel on to Nungwi, where a calm evening on the beach and a dinner watching the sun go down over the Indian Ocean await.
On Day 9 you travel to the southern coast of Zanzibar for a dolphin swimming tour at Kizimkazi, where you can swim alongside wild dolphins in their natural habitat. Afterwards, rest on the beach or take a refreshing dip in the clear water, then return to Nungwi Dream by Mantis for a peaceful afternoon, using the resort’s facilities or lounging on the sand. The day blends adventure with relaxation before you discover the cultural heart of Zanzibar.
On your last day you visit Stone Town, the historic heart of Zanzibar, on a guided tour. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for narrow lanes, carved doors and a rich cultural past. The tour takes in landmarks such as the House of Wonders, the spice market and the old slave market, and you learn about Zanzibar's fascinating history on the way.
Once the tour finishes you can browse for souvenirs. Later in the afternoon we drive you to Zanzibar International Airport to catch your flight home, and you leave with lasting memories of your Serengeti safari and island adventure.
