On this 2-day Kilimanjaro hike you start by walking through the untouched rainforest of Kilimanjaro National Park up to Machame Camp (3,000 m), where you spend the night in a tent under the stars. The Machame Route offers real wilderness camping, unlike the Marangu Route, so you can sink into nature and sense the genuine spirit of the mountain.

Rainforest, animals and a flavour of the mountain

The hike passes under tall rainforest trees, giant ferns and moss-draped growth, and your professional mountain guide introduces Kilimanjaro's distinctive plants, animals, geology and history. Itinerary

Day 01 :

Arusha or Moshi Machame Gate Machame Camp

An early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi starts the adventure. We can alternatively collect you from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). A scenic drive brings you to Machame Gate, where you register with Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, and then the trek begins.

The trail begins with a gentle climb through lovely tropical rainforest of towering trees, giant ferns, waterfalls and abundant wildlife. As you walk, your guide describes the mountain's ecology and points out plants and animals found only on Kilimanjaro.

After roughly 5–7 hours of walking, you reach Machame Camp (3,000 m). A freshly cooked hot dinner follows in peaceful surroundings, and you sleep in comfortable mountain tents under the stars.

Day 02 :

Walk down from Machame Camp, exit via Machame Gate, then travel back, heading for Arusha / Moshi

Day 2 – Leave Machame Camp, pass through Machame Gate and return to Arusha / Moshi

You wake to cool mountain air and a breakfast with spectacular rainforest views. After packing up, you begin the walk down through the forest to Machame Gate.

Heading down, you get another opportunity to enjoy the amazing biodiversity of Kilimanjaro National Park, spot wildlife and take lovely photos. At the bottom, your driver is waiting to take you back to Arusha, Moshi or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
