Experience Description
This 10-day Africa safari and beach holiday pairs the finest of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit with a restful seaside finish in Zanzibar. You begin by watching the famous Wildebeest Migration Tours in Tanzania and Kenya in the Serengeti and meeting local tribes, and you go on to visit game-rich parks including Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. A flight to Zanzibar follows, where you can laze on white sand, swim alongside dolphins and discover the cultural highlights of the spice island.
Itinerary
Following breakfast, drive to Tarangire Park Guide: Elephants, Baobabs and Game Drives (roughly 2.5 hrs, 120 km). Acacia woodland, baobab trees and large swamps characterise the park, drawing a wide variety of wildlife in the dry season.
Large herds of elephants are likely here, and you might also find the rare Greater Kudu, Fringe-eared Oryx and Ashy Starlings.

After breakfast, drive on to Lake Manyara National Park (30 km, about 30 min) for a full-day game drive. The park is famous for its shallow soda lake, and tree-climbing lions, elephants and flocks of flamingos live there too.

After breakfast, travel via the Karatu highlands and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti (205 km, about 6 hrs). When you get to the Seronera area, you stop for lunch and then go on an afternoon game drive.
You can pick one of two activities today:
- Option 1: a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti at dawn (extra cost, needs advance booking).
- Option 2: Alternatively, spend a full day driving north through the Serengeti, reaching the Northern Serengeti in time for an evening game drive.

Once you have had an early breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive beside the Mara River. With some patience you may witness the thrilling wildebeest river crossing, when herds risk crocodile-infested water to get to the Masai Mara.
